I really enjoyed reading "Locked", C.B.Day's first book in the Heaven's Gate Trilogy. I have to say that I enjoyed reading her second book, "The Key", much more. The author took the time at the beginning of "The Key" to revisit the happenings of the first book (Locked) so the reader didn't have to wonder what was going on. It was an easy entry into the second book of the trilogy. The characters in the second book were more developed than they were in the first book, and were more realistic. I also thought the writing and story line were more mature than was the first book.I had a hard time putting this book down, as the story was very engaging from the get-go. An engaging and quick read.
I cannot wait for the third and final book in the trilogy. C.B.Day, don't make us wait too long!

Surely it ISO not ending here. If so I will never read another book by this writer.
Did not like the ending.
This series has me hooked! The plot deepens in the second book, and it is very fascinating! I can not wait to see what happens in the third book! Again, this is a very refreshing spin on the supernatural!
This book is well written and hard to put down! I just wish there was even more of it. I will be getting book 3 for sure!

The Key continues The Heaven's Gate Trilogy by adding a few new supernatural characters, more adventure, and a unique romance. You can feel the characters grow up as you read, and there's a new mystery or adventure around each turn. As with the first book, The Key adds a few unique features that make it different from other adventure novels. The first book was entertaining and suspenseful; the second book made me really become invested in the characters. I'm extremely excited about reading the third book whenever it comes out!
I reread Locked the week before The Key was available and I am so glad I did. I wanted to remember all the subtle nuances, and wanted to be back IN the story when I started book 2.
When I started The Key, I was obsessed. I read before work, during lunch, and finished within 24 hours. It was addictive, and an easy read. I could visualize the characters and the circumstances.
I am already begging for Book 3 - because I'm left hanging AGAIN! Great Job my friend!
Now I know why I always delay reading trilogies until the 3rd book is published -- I have so much trouble waiting for the next instalment! I found Locked a real page-turner.... The Key even more so.... I read it in one long sitting, completely ignoring the real world until I was finished. C.B. Day's story-telling skill is evolving steeply - off a strong base - before our eyes. The biblical references are clever and entertaining. The emotional lives of the characters are both complex and engaging.
Dear C.B., please hurry up and finish The Gate!
